Andrew Oliver, Chief Technology Officer at Renewable Energy Systems talks to us about RES’ present and future energy storage deployments.
Andy has been with RES for 18 years and is Chief Technology Officer for the Americas and Global Head of Storage for the RES Group.
He has been directly involved in the siting of over 3,500MW of operational wind and solar plant in the United States and Canada.
In 2010 he was selected as the Conference Chair for WINDPOWER, the US wind industry’s premier conference event.
Andy has worked closely with both the US Department of Energy and the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory and has authored or co-authored a number of published papers related to wind energy.
Six years ago Andy set up an energy storage division within RES and the company now has 88MW/52MWh of energy storage either operational or under construction in 7 different electricity markets. Andy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering and a PhD in Wind Turbine Aerodynamics
