Tocardo is a leader in tidal energy, designing and producing tidal and free-flow water turbines and exporting them worldwide. With 4 turbines in the the Afsluitdijk, 2 turbines at the BlueTEC Texel and 5 turbines installed in the Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier, Tocardo shows the world what tidal energy is all about: providing a clean and reliable source of energy that could fulfil 10-20% of the world’s electricity needs. The Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier is the flagship of the world-renowned Delta Works series of dams and storm surge barriers, designed to protect the Netherlands from flooding from the North Sea. The location will now be a combination of water defenses and hydroelectric power. “This is the largest tidal energy project in the Netherlands as well as the world’s largest commercial tidal installation of five turbines in an array. This project marks an important step in the development of tidal energy. Tocardo is said to be among the top three turbine manufacturers globally, with more than 9 turbines installed in 2015 and plans to export 80% of their product in 2016!

Biography: Hans is responsible for the daily management and strategy. With his extensive offshore background Hans leads Tocardo with a focus on low maintenance and high reliability which result in a total cost of ownership and a total cost of energy for Tocardo turbines that’s lower than any other technology.
