Reducing the gap between design and operation in new buildings

The discrepancy between a design’s stated compliance with energy efficiency objectives and actual post-construction building performance is widening, as mandatory codes and voluntary rating systems become increasingly demanding.

This is a major issue for building software developers, designers, operators and regulators. Building performance can be improved through the use of best practice approaches and predictive modelling using real-time operational data. The challenge for regulators is to verify compliance and to incorporate this verification mechanism into their rating systems.
